Raspberry Atlant is one of the best remontant varieties of berries that have ever been bred in our country. This variety is considered new - it was obtained only eight years ago, and was registered in the State Register in 2015.

Despite the fact that the raspberry bush makes a very solid overall impression, it grows to a height of no more than 1.6 meters (extremely rarely - up to 2 meters), which is a fairly average indicator.
Raspberry remontant Atlant refers to upright shrubs, because of this, this variety is often called a raspberry tree, despite the fact that in fact it is not.
Despite the fact that Atlant raspberries, in accordance with the description of the variety, do not require an obligatory garter, it is still recommended to fasten the bushes to the support. This will increase the illumination of the raspberry tree and greatly facilitate the harvest.
The bush forms from 6 to 8 replacement shoots, has few thorns. The latter are located at the bottom of the shoots and do not cause problems when picking berries. The leaves of the bushes of this variety are slightly wrinkled and have a dark green color and slight pubescence.
The main feature of the Atlant raspberry is the presence of a powerful and branched root system, thanks to which it survives even relatively long dry periods without any particular difficulties.
Important! Despite its good root system, the Atlant raspberry variety cannot be considered drought tolerant. In conditions of a lack of moisture, the berries begin to shrink, which negatively affects such an indicator as yield.
The described type of raspberry does not apply to early ones. Ripening of berries begins in mid-August and continues until the first frost. In the conditions of central Russia, before the onset of cold weather, it is possible to collect on average about 80% of the crop. In this regard, it is more expedient to plant the variety in regions with a mild climate.
The weight of the berry is from 4 to 5 g, but if you provide proper care, you can grow raspberries up to 9 g. Color - red with a glossy surface. On average, up to 2.5 kg of fruits are removed from one single raspberry bush during the season. On an industrial scale, we are talking about 15-16 tons per hectare.

The Atlant variety is highly appreciated by any gardener who grows berries for the purpose of subsequent sale. The berries have a very attractive appearance and excellent taste. In addition, due to their rather dense pulp, they tolerate transportation well, including over long distances.
The cultivation of this varietal raspberry is also convenient because the berries are very firmly attached to their stalks. And you can not be afraid for a long time that they will fall off or rot if they are not collected on time.
Shrubs are very good at forming new shoots, but there is no need to talk about excessive spreading. Annual branches have a fairly decent thickness and a green tint to the trunk.
In general, the variety is unassuming, its planting and successful cultivation will be within the power of even the most experienced gardeners.
The most important thing is not to be mistaken with the place for planting the plant. The site must be sunny and sheltered from the winds. This does not apply to southern regions where the sun is too aggressive.In subtropical conditions, it is optimal to plant raspberries in partial shade places.
In general, the berry can easily adapt even to the most severe growing conditions. Unfavorable conditions will undoubtedly reduce yields somewhat. But the bush will still survive and bear fruit.

Despite the unpretentiousness, Atlant raspberries need some care in any case.
Landing
Each shrub produces at least seven replacement shoots annually. Thus, the need to search for alternative methods of plant propagation is completely eliminated. However, if necessary (or in the absence of seedlings) Atlas can be grown from seeds. To do this, they need to be planted in the fall in a box with suitable soil and wait for shoots. Seedlings usually appear in spring and require care throughout the season. But in the fall, they already turn out to be strong enough to be transplanted into open ground. The most important thing is not to be late with landing and have time to do everything a few weeks before the onset of cold weather. So a freshly planted plant will take root better.
Planting raspberries is a very responsible process.
If we talk about planting seedlings, it is enough to follow the following simple rules:
- You can plant raspberries in autumn and spring;
- Planting of plants should be done in a row;
- The distance between the roots should be about 1 m;
- The distance between the rows must be at least 2 m.
When landing in places reliably protected from the wind, you can do without the organization of additional supports.
Fertilizer
It is recommended to start fertilizing the plant in the earliest spring. Some gardeners start seasonal plant care by sprinkling with ammonium nitrate on melted snow. In the absence of mineral compositions, they can be replaced with organic ones without problems. For example, chicken dung or cow dung.

Another feeding of the soil with nutrients is done towards the end of spring. At this stage, nitrogen fertilizers are the best choice. Usually they are applied simultaneously with the appearance of leaves on the bush.

Additional fertilizing during the fruiting period is carried out in July. It is optional and is required mainly only in poor soil conditions.
But in the autumn, raspberries need nutrition. At this time of the year, superphosphates are added to the soil as part of the preparation of the raspberry tree for wintering.
Important! It is not recommended to use nitrogen fertilizers in autumn.
As a rule, before the onset of winter, fertilizers are applied only after trimming unnecessary plant shoots. Large doses of substances should not be used.
Pruning
Atlant raspberry pruning is another important part of bush care.
If the raspberry is planted in a temperate climate that does not have severe winters, the shrub should be pruned in the spring.
This manipulation will allow the nutrients to accumulate in the plant until the next winter. The plant will grow more actively and the harvest will become more abundant.
Summer pruning is also done to improve yield. Dry and non-viable branches are usually removed, as well as almost all root growth. This is usually done in early summer. This is because the earlier the pruning is done, the more nutrients will be delivered to the remaining shoots.
In autumn, shoots are cut, which have already managed to bear fruit in the season. The entire upper part of the plant is subject to removal. This is done closer to the onset of frost.
Watering
Atlanta is very watering-friendly. Unless the summer itself is excessively rainy, the plant should be watered once a week. For a square meter of raspberries, 20 liters of water will be enough.If the bushes are planned to be additionally mulched, the water consumption can be slightly reduced. The mulch will retain moisture. The most useful mulch will be from fallen leaves, compost, hay or humus.
Some gardeners practice what is known as double mulching. This method uses materials that take a long time to decompose. As a rule, we are talking about rags, cardboard, non-woven fabric. The procedure prevents the appearance of weeds on the site, regulates the moisture index.
Pest control
Despite the fact that, in general, Atlant raspberries, being a remontant variety, demonstrate high resistance to many diseases and pests, it is not recommended to neglect preventive treatment in the most urgent way. It will be especially effective with the following drugs:
- Rubigan solution (against brown spot; treatment should be done in early spring);
- ammonium sulfate (against various fungal diseases);
- composition of Actellik (against stem flies).
In addition, many experts insist on the positive effect of Bordeaux liquid on the plant. Spraying plants with it should be carried out in three stages. The first treatment is carried out in early spring with a 3% solution, the second - during the appearance of buds with a 1% composition and after harvest. In the latter case, a 1% solution of Bordeaux liquid is also sufficient.
Despite the fact that the remontant raspberry variety "Atlant" was officially approved for widespread planting only three years ago, it has already managed to find a fairly large number of connoisseurs and admirers. The farmers appreciated all its advantages: ease of maintenance, high yield, transportability and excellent presentation of berries.
